While I've been sick, I've been determined to work on some art and I had a really early preliminary sketch that I decided to finish and paint. I really wanted to do something entirely new when it came to my painting style. I've always had a thing for oils and wanting to paint something sketchy but alive and detailed and well done at the same time. I think I've succeeded with that in this picture and while I'm still obviously learning, I really feel like I'm improving faster than I thought I was originally. It will take me awhile to completely understand Corel and how it works, but I've been working my booty off and I am seeing it finally being paid off.
This idea has been in my head forever and I didn't know how to get it out into paper, and then it occurred to me. You know that scene where Lara drops from the helicopter (I may actually still add that in) in Tomb Raider II and discovers the Tomb of the Dagger of Xian resting beneath one of the many parts of the Great Wall of China? Well, why not really show that as if she truly traversed inside while looking for her new adventure. Giving her emotion of excitement and curiosity while still being somewhat cautious to a certain extent. I'm very happy with how this turned out and probably my favorite part was painting her skin, and the sky. I loved doing those elaborate clouds. Well now that I've have my daily dosage for nostalgia, feedback and comments are always welcome! P.S.
